A vegetarian South Indian restaurant that is known for its Dosas. Saravanaa Bhavan was first established in 1984 in India and now has its branches in almost 18 countries around the world.
This particular branch is a very busy one where one normally needs to wait for a table on weekends. They have seating on the ground and first floor and can seat up to 60 to 80 guests.
Not a very tidy or well kept restaurant, it has tables very close to each other to maximize on space and can get tight to move around during busy hours. The interiors are nothing great as well, just basics.
Its can be a very noisy place so be prepared for it.
On our order was Medhu Wada, Idli, Butter Sada Dosa, Rava Dosa, Poori Masala and filter Coffee. The service did take some time (20 mins) as it was a busy day but the good part is the food was served hot. The dosa was soaked in butter (not ghee) and was served with three different kinds of chutney and sambhar. The Poori Masala was simple yet tasty, it had potatoes that are tempered with mustard seeds, split black gram, turmeric and curry leaves that is served with hot pooris, however two pooris are not enough. The Medhu wada was a bit disappointing as it was too dense on the inside, where as it should have been light and airy. The coffee did not disappoint at all, hot strong and sweet, just the way it should be.
The service was not as prompt one would like it to be as they were busy and had a lot of guests to attend to. However the staff did attend to our calls but were slow in doing so.
